Texas Woman’s University campus was locked down Tuesday morning after a threat was made in a classroom.
TWU officials released this statement to the media around 10:40 a.m.
The Texas Woman’s University Denton campus went into lockdown at 9:40 a.m.
Tuesday, March 1 after a male student made verbal threats during a class.
After the student left, the instructor dismissed the class and notified the
TWU Department of Public Safety. The TWU DPS immediately issued the
lockdown alert to the campus as a precaution.
No one on campus has been harmed.
The suspect in the threat is in custody at the Veteran Affairs hospital in Dallas where the VA Police Department has him detained.
The suspect is a veteran, who reportedly went to an outpatient clinic in Denton before coming to TWU this morning. He then went to the VA hospital in Dallas where he was detained.
TWU, with an enrollment of about 14,000 students, is located 50 miles north of Dallas.
