We’ve been waiting for Britney Spears to officially sign for a judge’s position on The X Factor longer than we’d been waiting for Jessica Simpson to pop out that baby. So, about 5,000 years or so? We kid, of course, but BritBrit’s alleged involvement with the show has been dangling over our heads almost since the new year. According to E! Online, however, Spears will definitely be filling Paula Abdul’s shoes (or Nicole Scherzinger‘s, depending on which chair they give her) to the tune of $15 million next season. “She can’t wait to sit down next to Simon at the judges’ table and give this everything she’s got,” a source told the site. “She is excited about showing the world that she can do this, and do this well. This is the perfect next stage in her career. Both Britney and Simon are very excited to work together.” We’re excited too! Just to know one way or the other what happening! Indecision makes us terrifically nervous!

Now that Britney is on board, the X Factor‘s panel has just one last slot to fill. Will it be Miley Cyrus? Demi Lovato? E! points out that Fox will probably want to lock down their fourth judge before they have to present their line-up at next week’s upfronts. Since it’s unlikely advertisers will be willing to push upfronts back a few millennium, it looks like we’ll know who will be joining Britney, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid sooner than we thought.
