Jimmy Kimmel Brings Son To Work

Funnyman Jimmy Kimmel posted a photo with son Billy, 5 months, via Instagram.

“Billy is helping me write tonight’s monologue. I’ll give our thoughts on the #GrahamCassidy health “care” bill. #BillCassidy @LindseyGrahamSC,” he captioned the image of his baby boy visiting at work.

During his monologue, the Jimmy Kimmel Live host, 49, discussing the birth of his son by making a passionate case for pre-existing condition coverage.

“I don’t want to turn this into a Kanye-and-Taylor-Swift-type situation, but when Senator Cassidy was on my show in May, he told me that he believed that every American family regardless of income should be able to get quality health care,” Kimmel said. “And I believed he was sincere. Sadly, the bill he unveiled last week with Senator Lindsey Graham indicates that he was not sincere. It is, by many accounts, the worst health care bill yet.”

Kimmel went on to talk about Fox news personality Brian Kilmeade.

“Oh, he’s such a fan — I think he’s been on the show,” he said.

He added: “He follows me on Twitter; he asked me to write a blurb for his book, which I did; he calls my agent looking for projects. He’s dying to be a member of the Hollywood elite. The only reason he’s not a member of the Hollywood elite is because nobody will hire him to be one. And you know, the reason I’m talking about this is because my son had an open-heart surgery, then has to have two more, and because of that I learned that there are kids with no insurance in the same situation. I don’t get anything out of this, Brian, you phony little creep. Oh, I’ll pound you when I see you. That will be my blurb for your next book: ‘Brian Kilmeade is a phony little creep.’”

Kimmel and wife Molly McNearney welcomed their son — full name William “Billy” John Kimmel — on April 21.

While announcing the birth of his son, Kimmel said that nurses and doctors discovered their newborn had a heart disease that required open heart surgery. He went on to thank the entire staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for saving their son’s life.

“My wife was in bed relaxing, a very attentive nurse at Cedars-Sinai heard a murmur in his heart and noticed he was a bit purple, which is not common,” Kimmel explained. “[Nurses] determined he wasn’t getting enough oxygen in his blood, either in his heart or lungs … It’s a terrifying thing, you know my wife is back in the recovery room, she has no idea what’s going on.”

Their son was born with a congenital heart disease and there was a “hole in the wall of the left and right side of his heart.”

“He’ll have to have another surgery in 3-6 months,” Kimmel said, adding that Billy will need a third “non-evasive surgery when he’s older.”
