Because of the NBA lockout, Los Angeles Lakers star Ron Artest knew he indispensable something to occupy his time.

Making the decision to do Dancing with the Stars was a no-brainer, Artest told PEOPLE at Monday night’s live, deteriorate 13 DWTS expel proclamation in L.A.

“At initial it was not appealing,” Artest confesses. “I did not wish to do it. we don’t dance and all of the sauce adult and everything, but my daughter Diamond was like, Daddy, you should do it.”

Proud father Artest, 31, admittedly is a fool for his 8-year-old daughter, who battled cancer when she was 4.

“I had a possibility to play basketball abroad and we had a possibility to do Dancing with the Stars,” Artest says. “She asked me to do it, and we thought we could dance and lift some income for cancer research. I’m going to present the profits.”

Despite the fact that he might not play basketball this year, Artest says he is beholden for the event to show what he can do on the ballroom’s glossy hardwood floors once Dancing‘s new deteriorate kicks off Monday, Sept. 19, on ABC

“I have a lot of interesting things to come,” he says.

And if the NBA lockout is resolved while he’s still on the show? “I’ll cranky that overpass when it comes.”

Ron Artest May Be Stuck With the Lakers, and the Lakers May Be Stuck With Him

It is indeed that time of year when NBA trade rumors are bouncing off the wall. And with the February 24th trade deadline fast approaching, it goes without saying that thing are not going to let up.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been front and center in the NBA trade winds over the last couple of days. Word came out earlier on Tuesday that the Lakers and Denver Nuggets had had “preliminary” discussions regarding star forward Carmelo Anthony, who has been the subject of more rumors than a member of the Royal family over the last couple months.

The idea with that trade is that Melo would be swapped straight-up for Lakers center Andrew Bynum. Unfortunately for Lakers fans, it would appear that this is probably not going to happen.

Nevertheless, there’s still a very good chance the Lakers make a deal before the deadline rolls around. If they do, it will likely involve Ron Artest, who appears to have worn out his welcome. Again.

The word from ESPN’s Chris Broussard is that the Lakers had talked with the Charlotte Bobcats about a trade that would bring either Stephen Jackson or Gerald Wallace to Hollywood. However, talks fell apart after the Bobcats learned that Artest was none too pleased about the prospect of playing in Charlotte.

So with the Bobcats out of the picture, who’s next?

This is where a sound effects guy would cue the crickets.

Indeed, there are quite a few teams that could use a defensive-minded small forward like Artest, but there are only so many that would be willing to take on both his salary and his baggage. And it certainly doesn’t help matters that Artest isn’t getting any younger, not to mention the fact that he really hasn’t done much in his time with the Lakers.

In a way, you could easily say that Artest has become the Milton Bradley of the NBA. There’s nothing questionable about his talent, and he could conceivably help your team, but he’s nonetheless a huge risk. And ultimately, there’s an overwhelming possibility that it just wouldn’t work out.

In other words, Artest and the Lakers are probably stuck with each other. The good news is that the relationship worked out last year. The bad news is that it’s becoming harder and harder to determine exactly what Artest’s role is on this Lakers team.

We shall see. For now, you might want to check out our list of 10 Reasons the Knicks Should Pull the Trigger on Carmelo Anthony Now.
