Happy Thanksgiving to all!
How do the stars celebrate the holiday? Pigging out on stuffing and gravy like the rest of us? Some of our favorite celebrity moms – including Jennifer Lopez, Kendra Wilkinson, and Jodie Sweetin – open up about their Thanksgiving plans.
Take a look through our slideshow and read on about how the celebrities celebrate Thanksgiving.
It’s been a challenging year for Jennifer Lopez, who split with husband of seven year years, musician Marc Anthony, in July. The mom to 3-year-old twins Max and Emme tells Us Weekly she plans to spend a low-key Thanksgiving with her adorable twins.
I’m just going be with my babies,” Jennifer said. “We’ll cook a turkey, which will be good, and then we’ll eat it!”
Reality TV mama Kendra Wilkinson has a lot to be thankful for this holiday. Alongside her hunky hubby, football star Hank Baskett, and their adorable son Hank Jr., nearly 2, the mom-of-one plans to spend Thanksgiving with family — and away from the kitchen!
Being together and staying at our house as a family for once — just me, Hank and baby Hank — that’s all we need this year,” Kendra said. “I tried to cook last year and it was a huge mess. I tried to make homemade stuffing and it was the worst, nastiest mistake I ever made.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards will be celebrating Thanksgiving with all four of her daughters – Farrah, 23, Alexia, 15, Sophia, 12, and Portia, 3 – along with sister Kathy and her famous niece Paris Hilton.
My sister Kim and I have competitions with our turkeys on Thanksgiving, and my sister Kathy loves my famous mashed potatoes,” Kyle said. “I really have fun cooking during the holidays. My kids love to help me. It’s just family tradition to have everyone cooking together, and we have holiday parties as well.”
It’s been a wonderful – and busy – year for actress Mariska Hargitay! The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star and husband Peter Hermann have 5-year-old son August, and they recently adopted a baby boy named Andrew Nicolas, only six months after adopting a girl, Amaya Josephine.
[I'm thankful for] our family – all five of us!” she said.
The mom-of-three also talked about her menu for Thanksgiving dinner.
Brussels sprouts with crispy smoked bacon — anything with bacon is okay with me. Cornbread stuffing — seriously, what’s better than stuffing? Well, gravy maybe…(and) hot mulled apple cider. The true taste of fall. Not parsnips. I’m not a fan.”
For more than 25 years, Leeza Gibbons has reported the latest in entertainment, music, and Hollywood. The mother of three kids – daughter Lexi, 22, and sons Troy, 19 and Nathan, 14 – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their Thanksgiving plans.
Every Thanksgiving we put together a backpack of champagne and sparkling cider and head up the canyon for our annual ‘Gratitude Hike,’” Leeza said. “We each write letters to each other and when we reach the top, we read them aloud. The letters express the things we are thankful for as well as our wishes and dreams, struggles and challenges.”
Basketball Wives LA star Gloria Govan isn’t letting her “shocking” split from LA Lakers star Matt Barnes ruin her Thanksgiving Day! The mom of 3-year-old twin boys Isaiah and Carter opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their holiday plans.
Last year I hosted my first Thanksgiving, which is cool,” Gloria said. “But this year, we have the opportunity to actually spend the holidays with our family which is nice because we haven’t spent a Christmas with the family in the last five years. So me and the boys are going to be heading up to the Bay area and are going to hang out my family. Everyone’s going to be there! My sister is flying in from Orlando, and my brother will be there. Everyone’s going to be coming into town with their kids. We’re all going to be staying at my parent’s house too, which is going to be hilarious. It’s going to be one big sleepover. I’m excited — I’m definitely going to be helping my mom in the kitchen.”
She went on to talk about giving back this holiday season.
We are doing a turkey giveaway in the Bay area as well,” Gloria said. “We were able to get 300 turkeys donated. We are going to be giving those away the day before Thanksgiving. And I’m going to have my kids there. I think it’s important for them to start seeing that they are blessed. Not everyone in their situation is as happy and successful as theirs. I think it’s never too late to show your kids to start appreciating what they have.”
Full House alum Jodie Sweetin – mom to daughters Zoie, 3, and Beatrix, 1 – recently opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their upcoming holiday plans.
We do Christmas, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, New Years — all sorts of celebrations coming up! Thanksgiving is the next one coming up and I was saying we’ll have turkey and apple pie. Zoie said, ‘That’s my favorite! I love turkey and strawberry pie!’ Three-year-olds are always saying something is their favorite and they’ve never had it!”
All My Children star Alicia Minshew – mom to 2-year-old daughter Willow – recently opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their Thanksgiving Day plans.
We will go to New York for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah we will do here in LA, and then we will celebrate Christmas with my family in Florida,” Alicia said. “So Willow is a lucky little girl who gets to do it all. We want to expose everything to her and let her know and understand what both of her parents grew up with. Then, as she gets older, she can form her own opinions as to what she believes.
Saved by the Bell alum Tiffani Thiessen has a lot to be thankful for this year! The White Collar star – who is mom to 1 1/2-year-old daughter Harper – recently opened up to iVillage about being grateful this holiday season.
I am always thankful for my family but now with my little one I feel more blessed and more thankful than ever,” Tiffani said.
The mom-of-one also talked about her favorite dish at Thanksgiving dinner.
Mashed potatoes with sour cream, they are a yummy family tradition,” Tiffani said.
Melissa & Joey star Melissa Joan Hart – who is mom to sons Mason, 5, and Brady, 3 – opened up to iVillage about being grateful this Thanksgiving.
[I'm thankful for]” my amazing family!” MJH said. “Especially my husband who is the glue in our crazy house.”
And how does the mom-of-two plan to survive the holiday season? “Alcohol, duh!,” she joked.
