We’d love to shout through the streets like good patriots, “The British are coming! The British are coming!” The problem is that these 13 British celebrities were so sexy, so talented and so charming that we kind of totally surrendered to them in 2013.
2013 was a banner year for British entertainers in the United States. Not only did the 13 celebs on our list manage to cross the pond, but they also conquered our hearts. Emma Watson reinvented herself from Hogwarts sweetheart to Hollywood starlet by starring in The Bling Ring, Benedict Cumberbatch was seemingly everywhere, and One Direction not only didn’t fall into a slump–they solidified themselves as a veritable pop phenomenon.
Of course, the Brits aren’t going to let up in 2014. Watson will be starring in Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah andCumberbatch will be back with a new season of Sherlock. One Direction might finally get some stiff pop group competition from Little Mix, whose second album, Salute, is already getting compared to Destiny Child‘s Writing On The Wall. Andrew Garfield will return on our radars in The Amazing Spider-man sequel and Game of Thrones hottie Natalie Dormer is going to start asserting herself with appearances in Elementary and Mockingjay as the female Cumberbatch. And look out for Imogen Poots, who should pop as Zac Efron‘s love interest in Are We Officially Dating? and as Aaron Paul‘s main squeeze in Need For Speed.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. It’s still 2013, after all, and these are still the British celebs that we can’t stop obsessing over. They’re almost enough to make us want to ex-pat. Almost.
RITA Ora has landed a role in the hotly-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
The singer will play character Christian Grey’s adopted sister, Mia.
The movie based on the hit E.L. James S&M epic has finally begun to gel after the abrupt departure of male lead Charlie Hunnam — who was quickly replaced by Jamie Dornan to star opposite Dakota Johnson.
Ora’s limited acting résumé includes a 2004 British film, Spivs, as well as cameos in 90210 and Fast & Furious 6.
Meanwhile, Rita has reportedly been evicted from her London home.
Star couple David Beckham and Victoria Beckham struck a pose with their dapper sons – Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 11, and Cruz, 8 – in London, England. The famous family – minus 2-year-old Harper – rocked the red carpet at the premiere of The Class of ’92.
Covering the years between 1992-1999, the British documentary centres on the rise to sporting fame of six Manchester United players: David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes.
“It makes me feel old watching it back now,” Beckham told Sky News of the film.
He added: “You don’t have to be a Manchester United fan to enjoy it. There are a lot of laughs in there and some seriousness too. There are moments too when people who know us well will get choked up watching it. There’s so much in this film.”
