KATIE Holmes‘ dad is planning to play matchmaker and find his daughter a new husband.
The actress — who recently divorced Tom Cruise after six years of marriage — hates being single and is ready to find a new man.
“Katie hates being single — and her dad knows it. They have always been incredibly close, and he’s made it his mission to try to find her a new man,” a source saud,
The 33-year-old actress and fashion designer has been focusing all her energy up until recently on her six-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, who just started attending a private school in New York.
But now her lawyer father Martin — who helped her quickly negotiate her divorce from Tom and secure primary custody of their child — is eager to see her focus on making herself happier and wants to play matchmaker for his daughter.
Tom and Katie’s marriage was “irretrievably broken” six months before the actress filed for divorce.
The pair tied the knot in a lavish Scientology ceremony in Italy on November 18 2006.
According to their divorce documents Tom was ordered to pay $400,000 a year in child support for the couple’s daughter until she turns 18.
In the unlikely event the actor misses a payment; he will be faced with a jail sentence “for a term not to exceed six months”.
The Top Gun star is already making the most of his single status and has been spotted out on the town in London multiple times in recent weeks.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
and Ryan Reynolds
pulled off a stunning, intimate wedding in South Carolina on Sept. 9
– but the couple weren’t legally wed until Sept. 14, according to paperwork filed at the marriage license division at the probate court in Charleston, S.C.
Documents show that Reynolds, 35, and Lively, 25, applied for a marriage license on Thursday, Sept. 13, and actually got married the following day.
The law mandates that there be a 24-hour waiting period between filing an application for a marriage license and the time that the license can be issued. A couple is also required to apply for the license in person. The cost of a marriage license: $70.
Ahead of their wedding ceremony, Lively and Reynolds went to great lengths to keep the event a secret, even concealing details from key players such as the cake baker.
“For us, we were simply working for a client like we always do,” a rep for the Alexandria, Va.-based cake decorator Maggie Austin Cake told PEOPLE. “We are surprised and delighted that we were able to work with them.”
Nearly everyone involved in the nuptials was asked to sign non-disclosure agreements – including the parents of the children’s choir from the local First Baptist Church, who performed during the ceremony – and cell phones were confiscated from guests before being returned after the event.

is fighting back against two women whom she claims illegally tape-recorded her during a phone conversation without her consent.
Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday – one day after Rimes voluntarily entered a facility to “cope with anxiety and stress” – claim that Kimberly and Lexi Smiley “conspired to spitefully ensure that out-of-context excerpts of that recording would be disseminated to the public.”
The documents state that Rimes does not know the true names of the defendants, so is using their fictitious names.
The conversation – which went viral and was still online as of early Thursday evening – has Rimes attempting to keep the peace between herself and a Tweeter who defends Rimes’s husband Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville.
In the documents, which state that the Smiley women’s actions have caused the country singer “emotional distress,” Rimes seeks to be “compensated for the harm that she has endured as a result of the defendants’ malicious actions.”
By California law, both parties need to give consent to be recorded during a phone call, and Rimes alleges she was taped without her approval.
“There has been this cyber-bullying that has been going on for a considerable period of time,” Rimes’s attorney Larry Stein told Celebuzz. “These women have been merciless – vitriolic in their attacks … Rimes didn’t like it, but she hoped things would get better.”
A source close to the country star, who just turned 30, tells PEOPLE, “The events described in the lawsuit are a part of, but certainly not the only reason LeAnn has sought treatment.”

Just when our mourning over Tom and Katie’s divorce subsided, TMZ reports after 11 years of marriage the legendary Stevie Wonder has filed for divorce from his wife Kai Millard Morris for irreconcilable differences. In the divorce documents obtained by TMZ, Wonder asks for joint custody of their two sons ages seven and 10. In 2001 the couple tied the knot, separating eight years later in October 2009. Despite his feelings toward his soon to be ex-wife, Mr. Wonder agrees to pay both child and spousal support. Such a stand up guy. Our inquiring minds want to know if Mr. Wonder sang “I Just Called to Say I Love You” to his ex-wife in an attempt to reconcile. Sad to see the couple divorce after over a decade, but let’s all hope this doesn’t get nasty. And for our poor little hearts, no more celeb divorces this year. Please!
