He’s a 50-year-old superstar who spent 14 years (mostly) happily unwed to his longtime love. She’s a 27-year-old actress on the rise whose last relationship was with a woman.

Now Johnny Depp and Amber Heard – who only recently started stepping out together publicly – are engaged.

What made Depp get so serious so fast? “She’s a great match for him and his individuality,” says a source who knows Depp. “She’s a free spirit.”

Raised in Texas, Heard has proclaimed her love for shooting guns, driving fast cars (she tools around in a 1968 Mustang) and collecting books, a particular passion of Depp’s.

After roles on the CW’s Hidden Palms and the movie Pineapple Express, Heard was cast as Depp’s love interest in 2011’s The Rum Diary – and their chemistry was undeniable. “You can’t help but adore his talent, his passion, his magnetic force that pulls you into all his brilliance,” she said at the time.

Of course, at the time Depp was still coupled with French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, 41, the mother of his children Lily Rose, 14, and Jack, 11. They split in 2012. And Heard was dating Tasya Van Ree, a photographer.

Heard has said she’s bisexual: “In the past I’ve had successful relationships with men, and now I’m in this successful relationship with a woman. When it comes to love I am totally open,” she told Playboy in 2011.

By last year, Depp and Heard were an official item, with Heard accompanying Depp and his children on the international press tour for The Lone Ranger.

Recently, according to sources close to the couple, Depp popped the question. Says one: “They couldn’t be happier.”

You’d have to be Mel Brooks to write a hilarious movie that prominently features Nazis, but George Clooney and his writing partner, Grant Heslov, have penned a poignant but often funny action-thriller in The Monuments Men.

The real laughs, however, came at the Los Angeles press junket for the film on Thursday, which featured Clooney’s costars – Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman and Bob Balaban.

Despite the somewhat heavy subject matter of the movie – which is about a group of WWII soldiers given the task of rescuing priceless artworks from the Nazis – the press conference was a laugh-filled lovefest-meets-celebrity roast for the actors.

Here are the top five wisecracks from The Monuments Men cast, with an honorable mention going to Bill Murray’s colorful outfit, which made him look as if he had been attacked by his golfing wardrobe.

Clooney on casting the film: “Casting was fun. We couldn’t get Brad [Pitt], so we got Matt.”

Blanchett on having all of her scenes opposite Damon: “I know! Can you imagine my disappointment? I thought I was going to be working with Bill Murray … I think we’ve aged relatively well. The last time we were together was in [The Talented Mr. Ripley], which was an entirely different endeavor, then in-between times he went and made Behind the Candelabra. Fortunately I hadn’t seen that before we started working.”

Clooney on his career arc: “When you start out as an actor you’re just trying to get a job. I wasn’t really motivated to be the sixth banana on The Facts of Life, but I was thrilled to have the job.”

Damon on being Clooney’s friend: “It can be a little annoying being his pal because it’s kind of like God said, ‘Maybe this time I’ll just give one of them everything. Let’s make him handsome, and as he gets older he’ll look even better!'”

Damon’s response when the Oscar nod for Clooney’s Gravity was brought up: “What’s this movie called? Gravity? Oh! The Sandra Bullock movie! Fantastic!”

Kelly Clarkson Expecting A Girl

41st American Music Awards Nominees Announcement

Kelly Clarkson is thinking pink.

The American Idol winner, 31, and husband Brandon Blackstock are expecting a daughter. “We just found out we’re having a girl officially! I knew it! Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!” the mom-to-be announced on Twitter Monday.

The Grammy Award-winning singer recently opened up about experiencing pregnancy nausea.

“I vomit a good dozen times a day. It’s bad,” she shared.

“Everybody tells you you glow and your hair is pretty and your nails are pretty. That is total crap,” she went on to joke. “My nails are short, my hair still falls out, it’s not all lush and beautiful, and I have no glow — unless it’s something left over from a bad throw-up. It’s horrible.”
