Game Of Thrones Star Aidan Gillen Says Littlefinger Sees Sansa Stark As A “Partner In Crime”

Our favorite spring pastime this year isn’t hanging out in the sun, but speculating on what’s going to happen on Game of Thrones next. VH1 News sat down with Irish actor Aidan Gillen, who plays Petyr Baelish, aka Littlefinger, on the HBO fantasy epic and we got him to open up about why Littlefinger is sweet on Sansa Stark and why King Joffrey “needed to be stopped.” Warning: SPOILERS from last night’s episode are ahead.

In the Game of Thrones, you win or you die, and no one seems to be playing the game as well as Lord Petyr Baelish. Actor Aidan Gillen is no stranger to playing shifty characters. After all, he was also Mayor Carcetti on The Wire, but Littlefinger is in a class by himself.

Gillen told our own Ellie Lee that Littlefinger’s soft spot for Sansa stems from his love of her mother, Catelyn Stark, but that it goes deeper. “I think he’s beginning to see a bit of kindred spirit there,” Gillen divulged. “Someone he could mentor…maybe a partner in crime.”

Last night Littlefinger was not only reunited with Sansa, but he also revealed his role in the death of King Joffrey. “Hopefully, it will come as some surprise that I had a hand in what happened to that poor boy, but it won’t be unbelievable,” said Gillen. “But he needed to be stopped, you know?”

Peaches Geldof Autopsy Fails to Find Cause of Death

04/09/2014 at 09:25 AM EDT

An autopsy on Peaches Geldof was inconclusive and toxicology tests will be conducted in an attempt to determine what killed the 25-year-old celebrity, police said Wednesday.

Geldof was pronouced dead by paramedics at her home in southeast England on Monday.

Kent Police said a post-mortem examination had not revealed the cause and a toxicology report could take several weeks.

Geldof, the daughter of Irish musician Bob Geldof and the late TV presenter Paula Yates, had worked as a model, writer and television presenter.

She grew up in the glare of Britain’s press, which reveled in the late-night antics of her teenage years, and in the shadow of her mother’s death from a drug overdose when Peaches was 11.

More recently she had married for a second time, to musician Tom Cohen, had two young sons and worked as a broadcaster and fashion writer. She said in 2009 that her drug-taking years were behind her.

Police are treating her death, mourned by stunned friends and family, as non-suspicious but unexplained. The force said detectives are investigating the circumstances and will hand their report to a coroner, who is likely to hold an inquest.

In Britain, coroners usually hold inquests to determine the facts of unexplained, sudden or violent deaths.

Forget about there being another royal baby on the way – at least, not today.

Prince William, paying a St. Patrick’s Day visit to the Irish Guards on Monday with wife Kate, was asked by Regimental Sergeant Major Ray Collister if there were any more baby Irish guards on the way.

Replied the prince: “Maybe one day. One’s enough at the moment.”

Collister, 56, told reporters after his royal exchange, “He said maybe when there’s time.”

Another revelation William made among the guardsmen (past and present) and their families: 8-month-old Prince George is now crawling.

Kate handed out shamrocks at the gathering, and also chatted with those attending. Came time for the toasts, she sipped some white port, while William had red port – chased down by Guinness.

Afterwards they told guardsman Glenn Tierney that the little prince is “very busy crawling and eating.”

“I asked them all about George,” Tierney said, “I’m nosey like that. They said he’s doing really well and he’s very busy crawling and eating. They said they’re very busy sorting everything out for taking him to Australia. They’re very excited [about the trip].”

Ray Kidd, 72, a former regimental cook, also spent time with the royals. He said: “I asked him if he’d bring George next time, and he said, ‘Yes, that’s a good idea, I’ll try and get him fitted for the uniform.’ “

See Prince William and Kate All Decked Out for St. Patrick’s Day

The Duchess of Cambridge had to share the limelight with a four-legged special guest at the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration with the Irish Guards – the Irish Wolfhound regimental mascot, Domhnall.

As bagpipers played traditional and pop tunes at Mons Barrack in Aldershot, Kate donned a gold shamrock brooch to top off her head-to-toe green as she took part in the annual parade.

Kate and William, (in his ceremonial Colonel of the Regiment uniform, looked tanned after their week-long break in the Maldives last week, and she decorated her forest green coat by Hobbs with the Cartier jewelry that was traditionally worn by the late Queen Mother.

Teaming her coat – which had its own flourish of shamrock – with a matching hat by Gina Foster, she stood alongside William on the dais as the ceremony to hand out the shamrock began.

The Duchess handed over baskets containing 300 sprigs of shamrock to the warrant officers for distribution among the guardsmen.

Next it was the officers’ turn to get their emblem of the day. Finally, Kate pinned a sprig to 19-month-old Domhnall’s red tunic. The dog’s ceremonial jacket comes with Irish Guards’ uniform brass buttons and a silver necklace.

As the regimental band played Pharrell Williams’s hit “Happy,” the couple were in good spirits, chuckling together.

The late Queen Mother, great grandmother to Prince William, traditionally undertook the ceremony to hand out shamrocks. Kate took on the role three years ago and has been joined by William for the day since he was made Colonel of the Regiment shortly before the couple’s wedding in June 2011.
