Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield
Obviously, the show had to address the Donald Sterling controversy, which they did by having Bobby Moynihan portray Sterling, giving a press conference that only escalates in its offensiveness as he tries to “apologize.”
Wisely, the show traded on Garfield’s sweet chemistry with Spider-Man costar and real-life girlfriend Stone, notably in this sketch where the pair just can’t seem to get an onscreen kiss right, necessitating the help of Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
One of the night’s best skits was a trailer for a Philip K. Dick-esque thriller called The Beygency: Garfield plays a man who makes the mistake of admitting he’s not wild about that one Beyoncé song. Keep your eyes peeled for the 24 cameo.
As you may have guessed from Martin’s earlier appearance, the evening’s musical guest was Coldplay, promoting their new album Ghost Stories, out May 19. Here they are performing “A Sky Full of Stars.”
