Out of all the sitcoms you’ve followed over the years, which father characters stick out as your favorites, and why? We asked rapper T.I. that same question, and his selections are hilarious!

“Of course Cliff Huxtable,” Tip mentions out of the gate, adding the Cosby Show father to his list. “He was always very present. He had a way to relate to the kids. He didn’t punish without explanation. A lot of parents punish just because they said so, and I think that explanation brings about an understanding of how to avoid similar circumstances in the future. Cliff was able to find ways to relate to the children that many parents have not found a way to do.”

VH1: You said that he was present. What, exactly, does that meant to you?

T.I.: Him being a doctor, it’s very easy to be away from the home and excuse yourself from the family duties because of your occupation. It’s easily done.

VH1: Do you think you’re inspired or motivated in that same way?

T.I.: I try, man! I even have to find ways to combat my itinerary and try to find time to make time when there may not be time. It’s a day-to-day struggle. When you care about it and when it’s on your mind, I think that’s important.

VH1: Anyone else on your list?

T.I.: Fred G. Sanford.

VH1: Why him specifically?

T.I.: He was always brutally honest, but at the same time compassionate enough to take his time to try and find solutions to the house’s problems. He had his own way of doing it… a lot of tough love.

VH1: Who else did you put on there?

T.I.: I like Phillip Banks because he was a disciplinary, authoritative figure. I think that was something that was missing in my life: a figure that could show the consequences of choosing to partake in the wrong activities. I think that’s mandatory.

VH1: Do you think your approach to parenting was affected by the way you were raised?

T.I.: I [moreso] meant I know all of the shit they’re trying to pull before they pull it. I know when they lie just because I told the same lie 30 years ago. I just got to stay on my toes and stay sharp. You can’t be slow and say “Yeah, yeah, yeah.” I just try and make myself as present and involved as possible. It gets difficult.

VH1: Do you have any tips for fathers to stay present?

T.I.: Make time, pay attention, listen, think about your punishment before you issue it, and try to explain the reasoning behind the punishment.

VH1: Can you explain why you put Homer Simpson on your list?

T.I.: I like how he is not afraid to get his hands on Bart when the time comes. He’s not afraid to choke that chicken neck! Those kids need that. It’s necessary.

Ottavio Missoni, Fashion Brand Patriarch, Dies at 92

05/09/2013 at 10:20 AM EDT

Ottavio Missoni, the patriarch of the iconic fashion brand of zigzag-patterned knitwear that has added a classy touch of color and style to countless well-dressed women, died Thursday in northern Italy. He was 92.

A statement issued by Missoni SpA said he “passed away serenely” in his home in the town of Sumirago on Thursday. The town, near the city of Varese, is also home to the company headquarters.

It was a second sorrow for the family in a matter of months. Earlier this year, Ottavio’s eldest child, company CEO Vittorio Missoni, 58, disappeared with his wife and four others while flying in a small plane during a vacation to a Venezuelan island. They were never found, and the cause of the disappearance remains a mystery.

Ottavio Missoni founded the company in 1953, along with his wife, Rosita Jelmini, who survives him. They went on to create a fashion dynasty, with the couple’s three children and their offspring involved in expanding the brand.

The company’s creative director is the couple’s daughter, Angela, while a third child, Luca, works in a technical role in the company. Family-run companies are a hallmark of Italian businesses, commonly beginning with a small company and slowly expanding with the help of often fiercely loyal employees.

Born on Feb. 11, 1921, in what is now Dubrovnik, a picturesque Adriatic coastal city in Croatia, Missoni was fond of saying he came into the fashion business practically by accident. His wife’s family owned a textile factory and produced shawls. The couple started their own business with an artisan’s shop producing knitwear in Gallarate, near Milan.

The company expanded, eventually constructing its main factory in Sumirago. But the philosophy of applying an artisan’s eye to detail and precision continued to shape its fashion output, on the runways of Milan and in stores worldwide as their brand went global.

Among the exhibits honoring the Missonis was one by the Whitney Museum in New York. New York’s Metropolitan Museum has also showcased their creations. The Missoni fashion house has also created costumes for La Scala, the Milan opera house.

The last Dancing with the Stars elimination episode had Helio Castroneves stumped.

With Kym Johnson and Joey Fatone being the ones who got the boot in the end, the auto racing pro can’t believe he and partner Chelsie Hightower were just one couple away from hanging up their dancing shoes.

“It was very shocking, actually, and surprising, to be honest, to be in the bottom two,” Castroneves, 37, recently told PEOPLE during a rehearsal. “I was like, ‘Whoa, what happened here?’ ”

But the dancing duo isn’t letting one poor week get them down.

“[We're] moving on,” Castroneves says. “Like in racing … Sometimes we have a bad race. When you lose a championship, it just means sometimes you have a bad pit stop.” His philosophy: “Just turn the page.”

Adds Hightower, “It’s the all-star season, so anything can happen this season. Unfortunately, it was us that [were] in the bottom two. We hope it’s not us again. We’re just working our butts off.”

Lena Dunham Adds Women Of Color To Girls In Response To Complaints

It’s a rather rare thing to see TV creators make changes to their shows in direct response to critics — and in many cases, we’re happy they keep their creative integrity — which makes Lena Dunham’s comments at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit yesterday so fascinating. Her HBO show, Girls, while largely acclaimed, was also often criticized for featuring an all-white cast, despite taking place in the definitely not all-white New York City. And the 25-year-old writer/director/star took those complaints seriously.

She felt “heartbreak at the idea that the show would make anyone feel isolated,” she said at the summit, according to Reuters. In response, she said that among the “multitude” of new characters on season two, “There are some of color. Some are not. Some are Caucasian.” We’ve yet to see a list of any of the new cast, but we’re inclined to believe a direct statement like that. “All I want to do is make women feel excited and included by the show.”

Lena also outlined her philosophy on being naked on TV all the time. “Most situations, it’s not a good idea to be naked on television,” she said. And though she wouldn’t strip for another director, on her own show, “I like doing it because I’m my own boss. I’m writing it. I’m directing it. I’m producing it.”

No word on why she didn’t wear any pants to an event last Saturday. Season two of Girls will premiere on HBO in January.
