Forgive us if we take this latest Snooki news (and my god, the headlines are relentless these days) with a grain of salt: People reports that “a source” has confirmed that Snooki and boyfriend Jionni LaValle are not only expecting their first child, but also getting married. If so, then congrats, of course.
In our heads, we’ve concocted an alternate view of this rumor: Jionni and Snooks concocted it themselves, just to get their families off their backs about having a baby out of wedlock. That’s how we’d do it, anyway. And then take our time about making the actual decision to get hitched or not. Call us cynical and/or romantic. The couple did break up for a time last year, so it’s not the best idea to rush into this. (Best ideas are what Snooki is really good at.)
And though we joked last week that a baby would make an excellent additional housemate for Jersey Shore and Snooki and JWoww’s Jersey City spinoff, we are skeptical about a marriage being good for the show. Actually, we are more skeptical about a show being good for their marriage. MTV doesn’t have a great track record for televised couples, you know.

Is there trouble in paradise for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez?
A source tells PEOPLE that Gomez, 19, “was crying about Justin and was upset” during Ashley Tisdale’s birthday bash last week.
But multiple photos from the fete show the “Love You Like a Love Song” singer all smiles, appearing to be in upbeat spirits. She was even photographed being twirled around by a man identified as Bieber’s close pal Alfredo Flores.
TMZ reported Monday that the young lovebirds broke up last week, but have since gotten back together.
The couple faced split rumors last August, but quickly proved they were still an item when they sat next to each other smiling at the Teen Choice Awards.
After publicly confirming their romance by smooching during a press conference in May 2011, their relationship has included over-the-top date nights, a helicopter trip and family bonding.
Just a week ago, Gomez, 19, and Bieber, 18, were photographed wearing coordinating outfits at the Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D premiere.
Neither half of the Twitter-happy pair has addressed the breakup reports.
Reps for the stars have not responded to a request for comment.
