Jessica Chastain has a fan bottom of her own, and it’s only flourishing with her new Oscar nod.
But her rising star aside, The Help singer – and first-time hopeful for her ancillary purpose in the duration play – says she still gets star-struck.
“I do it all the time, every time we accommodate a famous person,” Chastain, 30, tells Vanity Fair in its Hollywood-themed Feb issue. “I’m such a geek.”
So which actor did Chastain have a blush-worthy run-in with while she was starring in a play in New York? None other than maestro heading lady Meryl Streep.
“I was in the run with some friends of mine, and we demeanour over, and we said, ‘Is that Meryl Streep?’ ” she recalls. “And as we said it, she incited around and started walking toward me.”
That was the impulse “everything got kind of foggy,” she says.
“She went, ‘Jessica,’ and she grabbed my hands and she was observant beautiful things about the play and my performance.”
Chastain’s self-proclaimed “embarrassing” reaction? “Because we was so repelled by it, all we did was we hold her hands and went, ‘Thank you, appreciate you. It means so most to me that you came,’ ” she says. “And we walked away.”
It’s not the initial time Chastain embraced her middle fan girl. At the Palm Springs International Film Festival progressing this month, the singer started crying when she met Gary Oldman.
