Sheen-a-thon

Do you think Charlie Sheen will be able to recover from this meltdown?

There’s no doubt that Charlie Sheen has a type – tan, toned and sporting a “barely legal” look.

The 45-year-old actor, who has announced that he is living happily with porn star Rachel Oberlin (aka Bree Olsen) and marijuana-mag model Natalie Kenly, both 24, is indulging in a “faux-lita” fantasy – women that are not underage but are styled to look like teen girls.

The “faux-lita” or fake Lolita is a play on the title character in Vladimir Nabokov’s 1955 novel about man who is brought to ruin by his obsession with a teenaged girl. Since then, ‘Lolita’ has become shorthand for a highly sexualized teen temptress.

The “benefits” of a “faux-lita” to an admittedly porn-obsessed man like Sheen are obvious: She looks like a young girl but is sexually experienced like a woman.

Sheen is hardly the only man who is aroused by young-looking women.  The adult film industry has made a fortune marketing videos with names like “Teen Angels,” “Teen Innocence” and “Cherry Lickers” to men with similar tastes.

But what is the profile of a man who wishes to surround himself only with women that look like Sheen’s gal pals?

Many are hung up on the desire for perfection, Rob Weiss – a certified social worker and the founding director of the Sexual Recovery Institute in Los Angeles– told the Daily News.

“That kind of man sees these women as an extension of his own ego.  They only want the newest, shiniest and the top of the line, like a new car,” he told the News.

Many of these guys are emotionally teenagers themselves, said Weiss. They’re attracted to younger people because that’s where they’re at maturity-wise.

For example, if a guy’s idea of an ideal time with a woman is all party and no day-to-day emotional hassle, he’s going to have trouble being satisfied with a real relationship with a woman his own age.

“I’ve treated men who are 55 but are 14 developmentally,” Weiss added.

Sometimes, an attraction to a “faux-lita” has more serious psychological roots.

Many men who are attracted only to girls who look like teens suffered a trauma at a young age and are sexually fixated on that moment in their lives. Weiss offers this not-uncommon scenario:

“Say a man loses his virginity at a young age — say, 13 — to an older, attractive girl, say a 17-year-old baby-sitter,” Weiss said.  “That could be a defining moment for him, one that he will constantly be measuring all of his sexual experiences up against.”

Surrounding oneself or masturbating only to “faux-litas” can be extremely damaging to one’s real life,  he added.

“You’re acclaimating your brain to only the most perfect image of the most perfect bodies,” Weiss said.  “These women are objects to be sexualized. And the more a person surrounds themselves with these types of images, the less able they are to connect with real women, real relationships and reality.”

A man who is fixed on “faux-litas” is less likely to be able to tolerate physical imperfections in women that come with life, such as childbirth and the natural aging process.

And though it might seem like a lot of fun to live one’s life surrounded only by physical beauty without any real emotional investment, eventually there will be extreme feelings of emptiness because the person’s deeper emotional needs are not being met, Weiss said.

“It’s like eating chocolate chip cookies,” Weiss said.  “I want them all the time. They’re delicious.  But that’s not a way to build a life of healthy nutrition.  You can’t just eat the cookies.”
